Research and innovation
Department of Transport management has the scientific potential to carry out research in the following fields:
Research on Transport System issues;
Research on Transport Policy and Legal Regulation issues of Transport activity;
Research on IT application issues in Transport;
Research on passenger and freight transportation processess and technological issues;
Analysis and Research on Transport Enterprises‘ economic and performance indicators;
Research on warehousing and transport operations‘ logistics issues;
Research on Supply Chain Management issues.
Increase of competitiveness and attractiveness of Transport system in the context of sustainable development and its impact on social and economic welfare;
Increase of competitiveness and attractiveness of Transport system while developing legal framework;
Innovative technology applications (including IT) to obtain implementation of economic and social cohesion objectives;
Improvement of separate logistics activities and the entire supply chain to obtain social, economic and ecological efficiency.
Each second year the Faculty of Transport Engineering organizes international scientific conference „TransBaltica“ and an annual conference for Lithuanian Junior Researchers SCIENCE FOR FUTURE (section „Transport). Lecturers of Department actively participate in conferences organized by other institutions, present reports on current transport issues, publish research results.

International scientific conference „TransBaltica“
Biennial international scientific conference „TransBaltica“ focuses on relevant issues of Transport system – the results of scientific research are being presented, participating members exchange their scientific expertise. International conference welcomes members from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland and other countries. Conference reports are issued as a separate publication (Proceedings of the International Scientific Conference).

Lithuanian Junior Researchers‘ Conference SCIENCE FOR FUTURE. Transport.
Every year the Faculty of Transport Engineering organizes Lithuanian Junior Researchers‘ Conference "SCIENCE FOR FUTURE. Transport“ involving PhD and postgraduate students, academic supervisors. In recent years, the number of international participants has increased. The forthcoming conference will be held in May 4th 2012.
