Academic libraries of the world celebrate international „Love Data Week“
On 12-15th of February, academic libraries of the world celebrate international „Love Data Week“. Data are all around us – to start with mystical signs or floating ideas in the air, and conclude with conscious observing of what is happening in the world. Data are the base of everything – we can reach majestic aims in a science world, if we collect, preserve and process data in a wright way. We have also take into account our own personal data – which are a part of our personality, but we are a part of this world, so the data about us may belong to somebody else.
We invite you this week to take a look at the World's Biggest Data Breaches , not forgetting about the universities. Let‘s remember the personal data reform in European Union, imagine what can happen if we lose our personal data, and be careful not to drop your keys of home.
Let‘s celebrate this week at the library: discover the books about scientific data collecting and processing, and find out on the internet how to make a data management plan, how important metadata are and how to create a data dictionary.
Scientific publications later appear in databases, where scientists can see their publication among the others – evaluate scientists significance, the quality of their works (H-index), the value of the journal (Impact factor) in a certain field of science.
Librarians of VGTU will provide consultations this week on science publications registration and search in the databases:
On Wednesday, at 10-11 a.m. librarian dr. Raminta Pranckutė will consult about search in Scopus database, at 3-4 p. m. librarian Aida Gališanskienė will consult about publications registration to eLABa system, at the Technology and Management Sciences Reading Room. You can bring your article or book to register together with the librarian.
On Thirsday, at 10-11 a. m. librarian Laima Siudikienė will consult about search and citation analysis in the databe of Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), at the Technology and Management Sciences Reading Room.
