World Acclaimed Professionals of Contemporary Performing Arts are Visiting the Faculty of Creative Industries
Twelve creators of contemporary performing arts from France, England, Scotland, Egypt, Algeria, Iran, Sweden, the USA, Germany, Hungary, and Bulgaria are visiting Lithuania and participating in the Performing for Farmers theater festival - the only festival that keeps being held annually for 33 years in Rokiškis. The world acclaimed professionals are active members of the international network for contemporary performing arts the Fence, established in 2003, the aim of which is to foster and promote contemporary dramaturgy around the world. The Fence is joined currently by 250 members from 50 countries.
On February 27, before leaving to the festival, the guests: English playwrights Sarah Grochala and Neil Fleming; Jonathan Meth – director, theater manager and curator of the international network for contemporary performing arts the Fence from the UK, and the German playwright Ulrike Syha participated in an open discussion where students of the faculty of Creative Industries had an opportunity to ask questions.
During the visit, the guests got familiar with the faculty infrastructure and had a discussion with the dean of the faculty, the vice-dean, and the heads of the Study Programmes Committees. They discussed possibilities of cooperation which was important and beneficial for both communities: the faculty academic community and the contemporary performing arts community. Cooperation focuses on BA and MA study programmes and the field of creative industries. The guests who visited the faculty were also working in higher schools sharing their knowledge with students.
The visit of the contemporary performing arts professionals was organized by the faculty of Creative Industries together with the creative agency Ethnic Kitchen – an authorized Lithuanian representative of the international network for contemporary performing arts the Fence. The dean of the faculty of Creative Industries assoc. prof. Živilė Sederavičiūtė-Pačiauskienė emphasized that “Cooperation of the Faculty of Creative Industries with Ethnic Kitchen which represents socially responsible educational art, obviously expands creative arts students’ practice experience, develops essential for nowadays contemporary approach to art and allows to learn socially responsible communication”.
