RESEARCH LABORATORY OF URBAN ANALYSIS
Laboratory of Urban Analysis was established on January 5th in 2004. Laboratory is a subdivision of the Department of Urban Design at the Faculty of Architecture (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University).
Laboratory was established due to growing demand for professional and methodological expertise in sustainable development of urban areas. Therefore laboratory seeks to assist national and local government bodies and private organizations in solving complex urban planning and design tasks. Laboratory also acts as a platform for cooperation of experts (scientists, practitioners and PhD students) in urban planning, urban design and related fields within university.
Everyday activities of Laboratory of Urban Analysis:
- On request, laboratory analyses and provides insights about urban development processes and urban planning and design trends in Lithuania and foreign countries;
- Regularly carries out research in the fields of urban planning and design theory and practice, presents research results in national and international conferences and other events;
- Engages in cooperation with other national and foreign scientific institutions and organizations and represents Faculty of Architecture in the public debates about current issues of urban development;
- Brings together students who are interested in urban planning and design issues, and involves them into the laboratory’s activities;
- Performs various urban research, planning and design projects.
- Contributes to training bachelor, master and PhD students with ensuring accessibility to laboratory's resources and facilities;
- Participates in national and international research programs and liaises with national and foreign scientific laboratories and kindred organizations;
- Develops and expands technical recourses and facilities needed for urban planning, design education and research;
Engages in consulting activities.
