October 9-11. The closing conference of the project TELESCOPE ALFA III, held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) was attended by four EU universities and 19 universities from 14 Latin and Central American countries such as Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica and others.  The closing of the conference took place in Barcelona on October 17-19, where VGTU became a partner of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, an authorized representative of UNESCO, in the strategic development of university management.

"Through this project we not only become UNESCO's strategic management training center in Lithuania and Eastern Europe, but also extend our specialists‘ experience in imparting knowledge and adapting it to new global markets," - said the Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Alfonso Daniūnas.

Priority-driven directions in strategic management of Central and Latin American universities, who are seeking to take over the experience of EU universities, are oriented towards development of new technologies and creative industries, by promoting co-operation with leading European universities. In pursuit of adopting best practices, the  universities participated in training and awarded grants to students who are seeking  knowledge in strategically important fields of science.

During the project TELESCOPE ALFA III in 2009 - 2011 Strat Management training involved 1,500 people in Europe and Latin America as well as 600 higher schools in 24 countries.
